In Portal Knights you can choose to play alone and enjoy the beautiful environment all by yourself, build your home and explore the world or to play with up to 10 friends in a 10-player group to have fun together. But on xbox one, players cannot be on different islands.
Some content is nearly only accessible through a group or very hard, like Hard Mode Bosses, and the game overall is a lot easier within a group.
