This is one of the 1 hour events, more specific: a Chest event. You need to find a tower and open the chest that is inside.
This event can't be manually activated, but you can speed up the waiting process by completing the other 1 hour long events.
Tips[ | ]
As long as the event is still live, leaving the Island makes any killed Hollow Knights spawn again, you can do that by going to the main menu or going to another Island.
The tower can be easily found due to the Crest of the Hollow Knights atop of it, along with Moonstone Blocks and its unusual design, don't forget to take some before you leave (or come back later).
You will face Hollow Knights of Fire and Hollow Knights of Thunder, draw them out one by one and you'll be fine.
In case you don't want to face any of the creatures you can rush to the chest, loot it and reenter the island. All the structures will still be in place but not the enemies.
